Dynamic Modeling of an Offshore Floating Wind Turbine for Application in the Mediterranean Sea

Wind power is emerging as one of the most sustainable and low-cost options for energy production. Far-offshore floating wind turbines are attractive in view exploiting high availability sites while minimizing environmental landscape impact. In last few years, some offshore farms were deployed Northern Europe technology validation, with very promising results. At present time, however, no farm installations have been developed Mediterranean Sea. The aim this work to comprehensively model an turbine examine behavior resulting from a wide spectrum sea states typical flexible accessible in-house purpose compared reference FAST v8.16 verifying its reliability. Then, simulation campaign carried out estimate LCOE (Levelized Cost Energy). Based on this, best substructure chosen convenience investment evaluated.
